| Clarification | During this period, Michael Hansen made a contribution of $150. However, both the committee's bank and Hansen's bank misinterpreted Hansen's check as a contribution of $1,050 due to misreading the handwriting on the check. This mistake was not discovered by either the committee or Hansen until the committee reviewed its financial records and revised its D2 filings in December 2022 as a result of counsel's advice after the departure of its previous chairman. When the mistake was discovered, Hansen was reimbursed $900, which is the difference between the contribution he intended ($150) and the contribution recorded by both banks ($1,050). In the revisions of D2 filings which took place in December 2022, this contribution was reported as $1,050. However, upon consultation with Board of Elections staff, since Hansen has been reimbursed, the committee is now revising the relevant D2 filing to report this contribution as $150. |
